Today, we take a look at two Mulberry Trees. The first is the Gainesville Edible Plant Project Mulberry and the second, the Dwarf Everbearing Mulberry. Yes, even in South Florida they are growing! Although they need to be heavily trimmed back.
Mulberry trees are great for kids (as you can see.) They are easy to pick and very sweet. Whenever we are at my Mom’s house in South Florida, the very first thing they want to do is pick mulberries! Do you have a mulberry tree? How is it doing?

I’m with you on mulberry praise. My everbearing tree is two months in on massive berry production with tons more still coming. We eat our fill and make plenty of jam too. Our dogs enjoy the berries that hit the ground. I invite folks by just to help us get this delicious fruit. This year I have given away close to 30 starters of cuttings from my tree. I’m a mulberry pusher. For background on my tree, its lineage is to South America.
David, the two cuttings from your Gainesville tree that I got from your South Florida food forest lecture have taken root and the leaves are looking healthy. I can’t wait to sample them when they mature. Your Katuk cuttings are looking good, too. As are the few other goodies that were made available at your lecture. Thanks for your hard work and all the information you pass on to us.
I live in Broward county, willing to drive! Do you still have mulberry and katuk cuttings available?
No longer – I am sorry.
