My daughter found a white dotted prominent moth caterpillar the other day:
What a beautiful little creature.
Usually we think of caterpillars as being the “ugly” babies that grow up into lovely adults… but in the case of this fellow, I don’t think you could get much lovelier. That color looks like a Miami beach house.
It took me a little work, but I was able to identify it as the larva of a White-dotted prominent moth.
You never know what’s going to show up when you provide habitat.
These guys aren’t really beneficial insects, per se. I don’t care, though – I’d never seen a caterpillar that looked like he was carved from fine jade.
I wonder if I could take it to Lowes and get that color matched?
“White Dotted Prominent Moth Caterpillar” Green has a nice ring to it.
