“And it came to pass, when Jesus was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethania, unto the mount called Olivet, he sent two of his disciples,
Saying: Go into the town which is over against you, at your entering into which you shall find the colt of an ass tied, on which no man ever hath sitten: loose him, and bring him hither.
And if any man shall ask you: Why do you loose him? you shall say thus unto him: Because the Lord hath need of his service.
And they that were sent, went their way, and found the colt standing, as he had said unto them.
And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said to them: Why loose you the colt?
But they said: Because the Lord hath need of him.
And they brought him to Jesus. And casting their garments on the colt, they set Jesus thereon.
And as he went, they spread their clothes underneath in the way.
And when he was now coming near the descent of mount Olivet, the whole multitude of his disciples began with joy to praise God with a loud voice, for all the mighty works they had seen,
Saying: Blessed be the king who cometh in the name of the Lord, peace in heaven, and glory on high!
And some of the Pharisees, from amongst the multitude, said to him: Master, rebuke thy disciples.
To whom he said: I say to you, that if these shall hold their peace, the stones will cry out.”
-from Luke 19, (Douay-Rheims)
The Church over the years celebrated this entry into Jerusalem, remembering the true King of Kings.
“At Jerusalem, in the fourth century, on the very spot where the Palm procession took place, the Gospel narrative was read in which we see Christ, hailed as King of Israel and taking possession of His capital, Jerusalem, which is really no more than the type of Jerusalem above. After this, a bishop, mounted on an ass, rode up to the Church of the Resurrection surrounded by a multitude carrying palms and singing anthems and hymns.
The Church of Rome, it would seem, adopted this practice about the ninth century and added to it the rite for the Blessing of the Palms. In this benediction the Church prays for health of mind and body for those who dwell in houses where the palms are preserved.
This procession is composed of the faithful, who with palm in hand and songs of Hosanna on their lips, proclaim Christ’s Kingship every year, throughout the whole world and in all generations. At the Easter Feast they will be united to this glorious Victor through the Sacraments. It is this that is represented by the procession when it stops at the door of the Church, into which some members of the choir have already found their way. They chant alternately with the clergy, hailing the King of Glory each in his turn. Soon the door opens after the cross has knocked on it three times and the procession enters the church; so does the Cross of Christ open heaven to us and so will the elect one day enter with their Lord into eternal glory.”
This morning we will attend a traditional Latin Mass, complete with palms and a processional commemorating the beginning of Passion Week.
May you be blessed in remembering the Lamb who was slain and who rose again to free us from the bondage of sin and death!

Praying for you to see the error of Maryolatry while you’re there and come back home to Christ alone.
It’s alright, Cindy – I’ve looked into it. The early church was not Protestant. Thank you.
Dear sir, I am very pleased to see that your are embarking into the true Church of Christ. I, a former Protestant, converted to the Holy Roman Catholic Church in 2013, after much discombobulation, and internal resistance. When one desires to pursue the truth, one arrives at Catholicism. There is simply is not a way around that, as history shows us that the early Christian were in fact Catholic, as can be seen in Saint Polycarp, Saint Irenaus, and much more. Unfortunately the evil one has succeeded in dividing Christ’s Church, especially (but not only) in the Protestant Revolution. The truth is, and as biblical historicity shows us, that Almighty God desires to be worshipped a certain way, and there is no other detrimental importance on the face of the earth as the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. This reality has been the target of evil, as can be seen with such accusations as “idolatry, papaloltry, unnecessary liturgical practice..”, etc. The Old Testament was very clear insofar as exactly how Almighty God wished to be worshipped, and although the Mosaic Law was ended / fulfilled in Christ, our Good Lord perfected it all by establishing the Holy Mass on Holy Thursday, the night in which He was betrayed, arrested and delivered to the evil-cooperators. Thus, He offered Himself to Almighty God on behalf of all of us, as the Lamb of God, the Perfect, Spotless, Unblemished Lamb, that could not be obtained down through the centuries, but yet was in fact directed (Exodus 12) to the Israelites to do so anyways. Holy Thursday and Good Friday are to be understood as the pivotal moments in history where God offered Himself, to Himself, to atone for our sins, and all the sins of all time, thus opening wide the Gates of Heaven that had been closed (Genesis 3:23) because of our first parents.
There is more to say, but I digress. YOU ARE DOING THE CORRECT THING! Please be assured of my family’s prayers for you, and please do know that the devil does not want you to do this, and he will do everything he can to stop you. Consider reaching out to me, if you have time, as there is. large group of agrarian Catholics who would love it if you joined us on private chats, such as the one we have on Telegram. Deo Gratias!
Thank you.
Did you officially convert to Catholicism?!
If so, congrats love to see it welcome home!
Working on it – thank you, Matt.
Latin Masses can be difficult to find these days. It’s wonderful that you have one available in your area. Deo gratias!
I wouldn’t even consider converting if the Novus Ordo was all there was.
This is very pleasing to hear, as this has been my experience as well. The Novus Ordo is an assault on the Catholic faith, although it is evident God works through it, it is still an invention of modernists to appease Protestants, which seeks to diminish the truth in the Holy Mass. I did in fact begin my journey through the Novus Ordo, but it was only a matter of time, in my journey seeking truth, that I was blessed to discover the Old Mass. Now you must reach out to me.
Thank you. I reject the Modernists and all their works.
God bless you and your family.
Palm Sunday isn’t till next week for us– you could always catch it twice! ;)
Once in the West, once with the East!
Kind of like crossing time zones and getting an extra hour, but a whole week instead!
I’m so discouraged by this bro.
It’s true that the early church was not protestant, but neither were they Roman Catholic. You’re going the wrong way, brother. Turn around, don’t drown…
Jesus turned to the scriptures alone. So should we.
Considering the final canon of Scriptures was preserved by the Catholic church and not completely codified until around 400AD, the case is not good.
I never would have considered Roman Catholicism in the past; however, I have found a very based Latin Mass. And I’ve been doing a lot of reading. I’ve been Presbyterian, Lutheran, Non-denominational, Reformed Baptist, Dispensationalist, etc. None of them quite seem to have the whole story. So I am returning to the OG church of Peter and Paul.
Respectfully, can you provide any evidence at all for your claim that the early Church was not Catholic? Because there is surmounting evidence of the dogmas of Catholicism in the first century.
I know you’re probably aware of them, but please prayerfully watch Dr. James White’s debates with Roman Catholics.
I’m also tired of people seeing how many kids we have and asking “Are you Catholic?”
I’m just gonna say yes. They were the only ones that kept the sanctity of life completely. Other denominational believers barely have kids, and think we’re nuts. That’s something right there. I’ve reached the end of Protestantism and realized there was more out there. The Pope is a bad pope and the hierarchy is a wreck in the RCC, but there is a thread running through it that is still strong.
Also, I appreciate your concern. You’re a good man. I would have done the same thing a year ago if a friend said he was considering Catholicism.
Caleb, James White has been refuted by Catholic scholars time and time again. He appeals to emotion. Apostolic Succession is historically, biblically, and salvationaly true.
Hi David, I’ve been binge listening to your audio books. I’m trying to get some inspiration for gardening, they’re great and exactly what I’ve been looking for for a long time. Very easy to understand and hopefully execute! As I was exploring your site, your 2023 reading list caught my eye. I’m a fan of Patrick Madrid, Scott Hahn, Tim Staples, etc. If you get the chance, check out Jeff Cavins’ The Bible Timeline: The Story of Salvation. You can access it via Ascension Press for like $30-some. I highly recommend it—it’s a Bible study like none you’ve ever done before. I hope and pray that you have found your home in the Catholic Church. I’m a cradle Catholic myself but have grown to appreciate my faith the more I read and research and connect the dots. It’s really neat to see when it all makes sense. And you’re right—the Pope might not be so great (many in church history were not exemplary) but neither were a lot of people in Jesus’ line of ancestry, but God chose them anyway. And Jesus himself established the Church, we have the blueprints at the Last Supper and how we should worship. People just have to read the Bible in context and the early Church Fathers to realize this but I suppose one sees and hears what one wants to.
Thank you – I will get it.
Amen, we serve a Risen Savior
Scripture alone
Christ alone
Faith alone
Grace alone
Glory to God alone
all honor, all glory, all worship, all praise, all thankfulness is to God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, The Holy Spirit.
For it is God alone we strive to pleas, not man/woman.
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
(2 Cor. 5:21; Phil. 3:9; Gal. 2:15–3:14)
We are literal Bible believing, all 66 books of Gods Word followers of Christ, and that’s all with no title/tag/group attached.
His Word is complect, all scripture backs up and supports scripture. Mans opinion is just that, opinion. He doesn’t need our input / manipulating/ adding to, of his Word. Jesus Christ created all things. The buck stops with Christ.
John 1:1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. 5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
sorry for typos,
I don’t hold to Sola Scriptura anymore, but thank you. The Canon was only established via Church Authority around 400AD, meaning we also have to have some faith in Tradition.
Sola Fide and Sola Scriptura are not anywhere to be found in the Bible. Those are a Protestant invention. Galatians 2:16, in which Saint Paul says, “a man is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ,” is speaking of the OT Law, not good works. As Saint James clarifies in his Epistle chapter 2 verses 14-19, “faith without works is dead..”
Scripture alone is dependent on the doctrine of faith alone. Without a valid authority — the existence of which would violate Sola Scriptura — to codify and to protect the canon of Scripture, we end up with thousands of versions of the Bible. The heretic Luther added and retracted: he added the word “alone” to Romans 3:28 and removed 1 and 2 Maccabees, along with others. Christianity is not interdependent upon self-interpretation, as Protestantism shows over and over again.
The RCC changed the sabbath from a Saturday to a Sunday which makes any followers instantly break the commandments, looks like you missed some very simple research, the papacy is the anti Christ, good luck brother
You are in grave error. You need to repent.
“But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews indeed a stumbling block, and unto the Gentiles foolishness: But unto them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God” (1 Cor 1:23-24). And again, “he taketh away the first, that he may establish that which followeth” (Heb 10:9). Catholic teaching on this matter is really not difficult to understand: Christ established the New Covenant to fulfill the Old; by means of this, the Old Covenant ceased, and salvation can now only be had in this New Covenant through Jesus Christ. – The Council of Trent said: “The Apostles therefore resolved to consecrate the first day of the week to the divine worship, and called it the Lord’s day. St. John in the Apocalypse makes mention of the Lord’s day; and the Apostle commands collections to be made on the first day of the week, that is, according to the interpretation of St. Chrysostom, on the Lord’s day. From all this we learn that even then the Lord’s day was kept holy in the Church.” And finally, “The sabbath was made for man,* not man for the sabbath.” – Mark 2:27
