Yesterday I was visiting a friend’s gardens and he showed me a mango tree from Taiwan, covered with huge, beautiful fruit of a quite distinct shape. I asked him for a scion and he shared a piece, which I will graft onto a seedling on my land later today.
I looked it up online and found the variety – Jing Huang – then I found this video about the man who created this beautiful mango:
What a legacy. I look forward to seeing if I can grow the Jing Huang mango myself. I will be using a wedge graft, as that’s the graft I most commonly see used on mango trees. Wish me luck.
