I haven’t been happy with the yellow tone of my office. It doesn’t look great when I record or livestream, and the light isn’t very good.
This last week I did some work to transform it. First, I had to do something about that back door area. First, I took off the shelf over it.
Also, that door is screwed shut, since I only needed one side of the double-door on this shed to open.
To make it look better, I went to the thrift store and bought a pair of red curtain panels. $2.99.
That’s better!
Yet the light is still weirdly yellow from all the reflecting luann plywood on the walls. I decided to go for a dramatic stage-style background to enhance the figure/ground relationship.
I also added some better light from the front. I’m still working on that. I have a narrow desk, and need the light to diffuse well. My softbox is a little intense for the space. It would be cool to just light me without also having a reflection off the back wall.
That’s today’s project, as well as filling my bookshelves back up. We should be able to figure it out.
After this, I want to hook up my good microphone again so we have better audio. I’m just waiting on an adapter to arrive in the mail.
This should allow me to record more video segments in my office, especially when I’m teaching something in-depth. It will also look better on livestreams. It’s a small space, and isn’t ideal, but we can certainly make it better.
Today I also have some sugarcane bagasse I need to throw around the food forest, plus some sugarcane cuttings to plant, but it’s pouring now, so that’ll wait!
Happy Monday.

I know you’re still working on the lights a bit, but it’s a nice improvement already. You stand out much more from the background and your skin tone looks better. Great job with a tiny budget!
Thank you.
