This Saturday our booth will be back at the Plaza Ferdinand in downtown Pensacola at the Palafox Market South.
Note that we are NOT in the median on Palafox Street, where the old market takes place. We are at the new market area in Plaza Ferdinand.
The market is open from 9AM to 2PM.
We have a lot of cool trees, including pawpaws, wild cherry, Kentucky coffee tree, witch hazel, black walnuts and more!
We even have Arabica COFFEE plants!
In the nursery this week:

Like this one:
We’ll also have copies of my new book Minimalist Gardening.
And really – we have LOTS of cassava starts – it’s time to plant!
The sale is THIS SATURDAY
We take both cash and credit cards. Also, we always need pots, and we’ll take any trade-ins we can use from one-gallon size up for $0.50 store credit per pot. WE REALLY NEED POTS, ESPECIALLY 2-3-GALLON SIZE!Â
Recycle your pots – get free plants. We’ve got some sweet selections that need to go home with you.
The market is friendly, and there are woodworkers and beekeepers and bakers and painters and all sorts of interesting vendors there. There are also other nurseries worth seeing along with ours.
My daughter Daisy will be running the booth this week and she’s bringing her seeds as well!
Come on down.

Sorry if I’m being too invasive. I’m curious how well you do at this particular market? It’s a very far drive for us and wouldn’t come step on your feet selling there regularly. It’s just that you have a bunch of stuff I wouldn’t mind getting but figure if I did drive that far it crossed my mind why not set up if/when I come out to grab stuff from you that day. Maybe I’d make enough to pay for the trailer rental, gas, and buying a significant amount of species from you. I can’t come this Saturday as I’m going to visit family but perhaps one of the next few Saturdays. I’m interested in the Kentucky coffee tree, cherries, walnuts, coffee, witch hazel, blackhaw, yacon, Chinese artichokes, Variegated cassava, honey locus, mushroom herb, true canna edulis(mine I had all these years is not), wilder strawberry, and probably more stuff. How well does the Variegated cassava produce roots? I had some in South florida but never harvested that variety.
We are ready to start doing farmers markets and festivals. I had never even heard of the one you were just at in Jacksonville. I tried searching online for plant related festivals etc but it’s almost like it’s trying not to give me what I’m looking for…couldn’t find anything. That one didn’t come up or Keepers of the old ways…nothing. I only got farmers markets and such. Unfortunately most around here are quite small and don’t get much traffic. Even in Panama city which is the closest largish city. Curious how you find these places?
Anyways thanks much for the things you’ve sent, for chatting with me online knowing you likely get emails by the thousands, shouting us out, etc. I commonly try to send people to your blog and YouTube but darn near everyone has heard of you already! You’re a really cool dude and hope someday we can be in person friends. No obligation on that front and I understand the need to be cautious too. We all have our preferences on how to go about things and stuff. Not gonna ever bother you uninvited I promise you that. Again sorry if I was too invasive into your affairs. I won’t get butt hurt if you aren’t willing to share and will happily still enjoy your content as always.
I wouldn’t mind if you set up; however, the Palafox market has a waiting list. I don’t know if it would be worth it for you. It’s a bit slow in the part of the market where we’re located, but it’s not terrible, since people come out to see us due to my YT and announcements here. How far from Brewton, AL are you located?
According to the GPS app I have the fastest route to the general city of Brewton is 3hrs. 191mi.
I guess since there’s a wait list for the market then that’s a no go on that idea. Would feel bad setting up on top of you anyways selling similar stuff.
The more the merrier – I don’t worry about it if we were set up together. I feel like there is more than enough to go around. Besides, I would want to shop your plants too.
That is a haul! I will be at SCRUBFEST III in Orange Springs, Florida on October 19th. That’s a while from now, though.
It’s possible I would be able to make it to scrubfest this year. Since Sam has a nursery I don’t figure there would be other plant vendors. Very curious to see what all he has. I always think I’ve heard of it all but then am surprised every so often with something new. Like the chicken bullion plant. I traded with someone online and they offered me seeds for it and I hadn’t ever heard of that before. Does have a lightly chicken soup like flavor to it. Very interesting species. I had a good handful but I had recently sold all my extras. Reserved two for myself. Flowering now so hopefully more seeds soon. Also a few years back ran into beef and onion tree. Really does taste like meat with onions. Vigorous tree too. Always new stuff to be found.
Anyways I’d not want to force you to have me right next to you all day at your market. I’ll still make it out there at some point. I can email you a full list of available species and maybe we could partly trade as well. So much you have I’d like to get from the Sugarcane varieties to fruiting trees.
I would buy some paw paws but I’d need them shipped – darn it- i would do a 3 hr drive but Im in Missouri
David, I purchased some things today from your booth, and was wondering about the PawPaws! Are they Florida native ones, and are they seedlings or grafted? Just curious :) Oh, and we came back for the Mushroom herb, thought it over since last time we were there and tried it! So interesting, thanks for the experiences you bring!
Thank you. They are Asimina triloba, which is rare in Florida. Native to North America. Seedlings – I don’t have any improved grafting stock right now.
Will you be in Pensacola this Saturday June 1st ?
No, not this week.
