Now therefore saith the Lord: Be converted to me with all your heart, in fasting, and in weeping, and in mourning. And rend your hearts, and not your garments, and turn to the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, patient and rich in mercy, and ready to repent of the evil. Who knoweth but he will return, and forgive, and leave a blessing behind him, sacrifice and libation to the Lord your God? Blow the trumpet in Sion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly,
Gather together the people, sanctify the church, assemble the ancients, gather together the little ones, and them that suck at the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth from his bed, and the bride out of her bride chamber. Between the porch and the altar the priests the Lord’s ministers shall weep, and shall say: Spare, O Lord, spare thy people: and give not thy inheritance to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them. Why should they say among the nations: Where is their God? The Lord hath been zealous for his land, and hath spared his people.
Joel 2:12-18
Today the season of Lent begins. May we turn to the Lord and remember the great things He has done for us.

Spend Valentines Day rubbing ashes on people reminding them they are going to die. Why not?
I dipped fresh strawberries in chocolate and other fun-loving endeavors.
Remember, you can’t spell Valentines Day with out lent.
One day you will die and face eternity. It is good to remember.
It is. I’m not trying give you a hard time. I was raised Christian but as an AirForce Brat as a child was exposed to many many many different religions and cultures in Europe and overseas and just with the kids on bases. Very eclectic. Went to ancient Greek sites, Mount Olympus, yet also went to Jerusalem. Ephesus, Corinth, Walls of Jericio, Golgothas hill and more! Studied Greek Mythology in Elementary school too. I find value in them all however can’t help but think out of the box. Later in life I was exposed to some of the older yet revisited practices and really enjoy the more nature based ways of making sense and purpose of life. Old Agricutural practices based on the cycles of the sun and moon and seasons. Also Indigenous American practices. I’ve read the Bible a few times and pondered much. Glad you found spiritual practices that give meaning to you. It is good to remind ourselves we are stardust. And will return. My rational mind can no longer believe all the dogma yet the stories and myths of a lifetime of pondering the universe live on. Just a richly woven tapestry. Thinking of life everlasting is comforting for eternity and for being with loved ones. Live, on earth for a limited time. Peace.
Thank you, Joan. I am also familiar with many other faiths (Dad had us study them), but the testimony of Christ and those who were martyred after Him without turning away from the claim of His resurrection keeps me convinced. I have been praying for you daily.
