I love bananas but they’re definitely marginal here. I don’t know how this guy is going to do, but I’m willing to try anything:
That is a baby 1000 Fingers banana!
My foreclosure bananas have done well for me this year.
I call them that since my cousin Timmy and I saved them from a property headed into the cold and grasping hands of an evil bank. We’ve got four hands of bananas in progress and they started early enough this year that we should be harvesting them before frost.
The problem: the foreclosure bananas only produce about 20 or so bananas on each stalk. They’re great bananas that work well for cooking or fresh eating, but they take up a lot of space considering their limited production.
The banana tree above is a different animal. This is the stalk it’s supposed to produce:

I have no idea if it will do that here, but I’m willing to see what happens. This is how we roll here at Econopocalypse Ranch.

Whoa.
I just went over by the 326 market to horse farm and got some horsey manure.they had a huge (grove) ? of bananas there so said i could grab a few. they look like lady fingers , the hands had probably 30 bananas on them.I grabbed a couple small plants and planted them here. see how they do :)
K-fingers are photogenic but are mostly peel and not much inside. Bananas form while the pups are still underground, so be sure to feed them regularly to maximize the number of fruit. Try Raja Puri or another quick fruiting short variety. Keep the number of stalks per root mat low (3-4) and they will have more energy to fruit even faster. Move extra pups to a new spot.
Good to know. I wondered how much "eating" they'd provide.
I'm also testing Raja Puri this year, along with a Dwarf Red type. Interesting that they form bananas before they even come up.
I've had bananas for 7 years. Dwarf Red–not one banana; dwarf Cavendish (grocery variety) has had 2 tiny bunches, Manzana and Ice Cream have 30# bunches a few times a year (they crank out pups) but they are really tall and a challenge to harvest. Raja Puri is 1 year, and has fruit 50% mature at ~6' height along with 3 pups, one almost ready to flower. (FL Treasure Coast)
I've got a couple of Raja Puris in the ground right now and about 70 in my nursery. I've heard they're one of the best for here – glad to see independent collaboration on that! I need to get Ice Cream and Manzana to try.
