It’s amazing how well this works:
It’s not enough to get you through a Northern winter, but it would extend the season quite a bit. Here in Lower Alabama, it’s often enough to avoid having to use an electric or gas heater.
We’re up to about 40 barrels now. I think that’s enough, but there are sometimes freak cold events that may stretch this method beyond its capacity. We’ll make sure we have a backup just in case, but so far, so good. It handles the upper 20’s just fine.

My primary reason for contacting you is to ask about growing purple yams Diascoria Alata from seed. I bought some on Amazon and they look like a single seed with a helicopter wing similar to many other seeds. Did I buy into a scam or do you think they will grow. I can’t find any info on seed so I’m going to plant half of them indoors in late winter. I got 50 seeds and I’m hoping to have luck in north Alabama.
They do grow from seed, though I have not done it. They have papery wings. Good luck!
