David what do you think about poke salad? Do you think it is too toxic to eat? I boil mine 3 times then the 4th time I put in my seasoning. It’s crazy wild and all over the place here in Adamsville,Tn. What’s your thoughts on eating poke salad?
I haven’t tried it; however, Eric Toensmeier reports it’s delicious. Southerners have been eating it for a long time. Boiling three times should be more than safe.
I love poke. I boil it about 5 min, pour off the water, add more water, salt, butter or bacon and boil it about 5 min… Yum! Early in the spring I don’t bother to par boil it, the very young leaves aren’t strong at all… my experience here in fl is if it tastes strong, it will have quite the laxative effect… Par boil eliminates that…
