It was going to be a perfect day.
We got up before dawn, made coffee and a weird smoothie, and set off for our gardens.
The evening before I had cut down some of the weeds with my string trimmer and burned the first pile for a new patch of pumpkins…
…and that’s where this video starts:
We did get a lot done before everything was cut short.
Get it? “Cut?”
Sorry. I also must apologize for my lack of a shirt at the end. I wasn’t quite myself after surgery and felt like I just had to finish the video.
Tomorrow I’m going to post a follow-up that I think you’ll really like.
Unless you hate ketchup. Then don’t watch.

Good Grief!! Hope you didn’t traumatize your child too much. May you heal quickly with no residual effects. How will this affect your gardening? How will you keep your bandage clean? I figure you’re a guy, my experience is with 3 sons and a husband, and you’re not going to be overly careful. Take it easy for a while. And be more careful, please!
I will do my best to follow the doc’s orders. My son who saw me was quite upset – very nasty to see; however, I reassured him and stayed calm and he was fine.
I’ve been outsourcing my gardening to the kids and a local guy who I’ve hired to do some of the bigger jobs I can no longer do.
“Overly careful…” no, we men are not that for sure. :)
Good grief! Things happen, right? Take care of that… No infection needed! Wishing you a speedy recovery! And thanks for all you do, it’s been good inspiration for me!
Thank you, Annie!

BGS – that’s crazy! Too much crazy for this gardening blog… sorry to edit, but I don’t want folks getting upset and political in the comments. Appreciate you anyhow, though.
Hello Mr. Goodman (David),
Sorry to hear about your accident. I agree with the previous comments about taking it easy and being sure to keep it clean so that there is zero chance of infection.
We all thank you for all you do. I hope you will use this time as an opportunity …
I have to say the best thing about this video was at the end when you spoke words of thanks to God for blessings you received rather than being negative or resulting in pity… I wish you good health in body mind and spirit in the days ahead.
So sorry Dave, gosh I hope it heals up as though it never happened! Geeze!
