Here’s how you can get maximum production out of a coffee tree by stumping and pruning:
Some years ago I shared with you on the resilience of mulberry trees. You can literally saw them to the ground and they will return and fruit:
As you can see in the coffee video, the same level of brutal pruning can be applied without ill effect. By cutting the trees heavily, you promote new growth and on the new growth is where you’ll get your fruit.
Not all trees are like this. Some really don’t like it. But I will be using this practice on my coffee trees once I get them in place. Trees are more resilient than you might think, and it’s quite possible to take some huge species and keep them at manageable sizes and productivity through pruning.
