The smilax shoots are popping up everywhere right now and we’re taking full advantage of this delicious wild edible.
Check out my new video:
That really was a good omelet.
I used to hate smilax until I found out how delicious it was – now I can’t bear to pull it out of my yard!

In completely unrelated news, I created a new page this week with all my books and teaching videos on it. You’ll find that here.
Have a wonderful weekend. If you’re in a warm enough climate, go smilax hunting!

Another great video!! I was just thinking smilax should be coming into season about now. I’m still laughing at the coffee video, don’t know where you get the ideas from but keep them coming.
Thanks, Curtiss. I’m starting to get the hang of the editing/videography.
I was enjoying the beauty of ‘greenbriars’ last year so much that I added them to my spring flower arrangements. You can be sure I will be watching for it this year surely smilax and asparagus would go good together…
Thank you for teaching me how to say ‘smilax’. I always said it wrong… similax.
I never would have thought to add them to a flower arrangement – nice.
“Similax” sounds like either a baby food or a sentient robot. My daughter says “frownax” is a better name than “smilax” because of the thorns.
