Somebody in Sarasota just sent me three packages of seeds:
They look like some sort of big lentil or legume… but there are no labels and no notes in the package. Thank you… I think!
Anyone care to enlighten me? ;)

I'm from Sarasota but unfortunately did not send the seeds! Good luck finding out the mystery!

Unintentionally, I suppose. Maybe they'll see my shirt and send me a truckload or something…
I actually use rabbit manure for most everything but I like having a shirt that advertises manure. Truth in advertising. "Our product is s—!"
Hey!! I have used "Black Kow" for years with no problem. Well except for my father told me to put black know on my red tips, they were looking sad, so i did. They looked better in a few months, so i put more on. The result was rapid uncontrollable growth in something i wanted to look nice but wasn't real crazy about being 20 feet tall. No more black know for the red tips, and a few years later they have mellowed out. Black kow is manufactured for gardens and flower beds, and the last truck load i got the driver told me the ph level was a bit high so they were blending it to bring it down for gardens. So they are looking out for the gardeners.

The seeds are from Carol and Lester who you were kind enough to host last year at your home. They are jicama. The weather has been so dry that we haven't gotten good cuttings to send along like we hoped. We also finally closed on the 17 acres in Arcadia in late February so we've been crazy busy running back and forth. We're waiting on the rains to start planting in earnest. Foraging lots of elderberries every week.
I didn't get a great crop of jicama seeds last year so most of what I sent are older. They geminated for me at about 25-30%. This is the best time to grow them as they take off with the shortening days.
We're still also lousy on taking pictures. If we could ever come up with a name for our blog, I'd start posting some there. Our mini jungle is surviving the dry spring and summer pretty well. We've put the cuttings you have us in the new place and they're starting to take off, too.
