Seeds, Scions and Nuts in the Mail!

I got something really cool in mail yesterday afternoon:

“Cheers, fellow plant geek!”

Those are nuts from a California Bay Laurel.

Steven from the excellent Turkeysong Blog sent me these, along with two varieties of rare onions, along with some seeds and scion wood from some of his apple research.

So – what can you do with California Bay Laurel? Steven writes about the tree here.

I’m excited to see how they’ll grow here in Florida. Like myself, Steven is an INTJ personality type with crazy research skills… I highly recommend subscribing to his blog. Though we disagree on religious issues, we’re definitely in the same boat when it comes to plants and low-tech solutions to living.

As for the scions, I’ll take photos when I graft them and make sure to record their progress here.

Steven – thou art a gentleman and, most truly, a scholar.
