…and ordered a new iMac.
I really dislike spending money on technology; however, I have been on the same iMac since 2010!
Yes, I do all my writing and video editing and graphic design on a computer that is fourteen years old. And people think you need something fancy to “make it” on YT.
Naw. You just need to post videos on composting. With dumb songs.
Photoshop no longer supports this operating system, and I can’t edit pdfs either. Also, it takes a long time to edit video, as all the rendering and processing moves like molasses on this old computer.
It still works, and it’s more than paid for itself, but I guess it’s time.
I owned this computer before I started this blog back in 2011. Imagine that! Back then, I was an audio editor working freelance on Evangelical Christian radio programs. I had three children when I bought this computer, and now I have eleven.
I carefully packed this computer up and took it to the Caribbean with me, where it kept working despite the humidity and lack of air conditioning, then four years later I brought it back.
It’s been a great run.
The new iMac is apparently much, much faster. It’s set to arrive in early June.
Somehow I doubt it will survive for fourteen years, but we’ll see.
If it frees up a few hours of time for me each week, it’ll pay for itself.
