This past Thursday, the Florida Senate approved front-yard vegetable gardening. Big win! Get out and start planting!
Check out this video about a Miami couples frustrating situation with local code enforcement in 2017. “But you can’t have carrots, you can’t have eggplant.” Let’s hope this recent change in law makes it easier for fellow gardeners in the future.Â
The Helvenston’s have been vindicated.

Well currently this hasn’t passed the house, but it appears that it should considering the language. Unfortunately this doesn’t appear to apply to people in gated communities, condo associations, HOA’s, etc. The language says government.
I live in a condo association even though it is not really a condominium. We are actually a manufactured home community (okay, read: Mobile Home Park!)

Hey Karl!
Yes, you are right. This does not apply to HOA and other such communities. My first home was in a very restrictive HOA and we couldn’t even choose our landscape… Edible or not.
Thanks for the feedback,

Oh, the magnamity of it all.
Does anybody remember Freedom!
ie Alloidal Land Rights and the American Revolution 1776.
It’s a sad world we live in when this is a “win.”
Thanks for your feedback,
