My MacBook is in the shop now, but I was able to buy and set up a new desktop computer so I can stay in the action.
The fun thing about getting a new computer is realizing how very many programs you need to install again. There’s a regular workflow to the day which gets interrupted as you realize “hey, wait – I haven’t set that up yet!”
The main programs I use daily or almost daily include ProTools, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro X, LibreOffice, Thunderbird, Skype and Firefox. Beyond that, there are programs which make regular appearances, such as Calibre and Garageband.
Everything needs to get running again. And I need to pray I can nail down some land soon and build a small air-conditioned office shed or room to keep this computer in. I can feel the clock ticking as the humidity creeps into its new and delicate inner workings.
That said, I give thanks to God that I have savings in the bank so I’m not completely stranded when technology fails.
Computer issues aside, today I’ll be hunting down some ice cream bean trees, AKA Inga edulis. I found a place that has them and I’ve wanted these trees for a long time.
They’re part of the Inga alley cropping idea, plus fix nitrogen and make good food. I don’t have a place to plant them yet but I should soon.
And, for those of you who have been wondering, I will begin posting YouTube videos again shortly now that I have a working computer. If I’m lucky, I’ll get my MacBook back from the local computer store in working order and we’ll really be cooking with gas.
