I met survivalist Bob Hansler a few months back while writing an article on desert survival for The Prepper Project.
Today I found out that he’s fighting a severe medical emergency:
His wife Shauna recently posted on Facebook:
“Bob continues to heal slowly, day by day. We saw the doctor for his surgery follow-up last Friday and he was pleased with the way Bob’s left eye is healing. Bob continues to rest and recover and has begun to see light and small amounts of movement with the left eye. We return to the doctor in several weeks for another check-up and to see where we go from there as far as when the next surgeries are needed. Hoping that he will feel up to making a video update for everyone soon. Thank you so much to everyone for all the care and concern that has been expressed during this difficult journey.”
I was really set back in my own work when I cut through the tendons in a single finger earlier this year. Bob’s struggle with a descent into blindness is orders of magnitude higher.
Please send some prayers his way this Christmas. Also, if you’d like to donate to help Bob’s family and their medical expenses, you can do so here.

Prayers heading their way right now. May you and your family have a Merry Christmas.
What is Bob condition now. This is from 2016! I am just getting this.
He’s had multiple operations and I don’t think he’s all the way back to full health, but he’s doing well enough to hunt crawdads with his daughter now! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luGfMdS9s3s

I know this is a very old post but just wanted to add that now (2023) he is needing a kidney transplant. He has been fighting kidney disease the last few years. His wife has a gofundme set up and they have almost reached their goal.
I just found his update video on his second channel, they did get the kidney.
