Jennifer sent pictures of an unknown tree. So what is it – and are the fruit edible?”
I’ll let you guys take a crack at it.
Go, plant geeks!
First person to name the species wins the approval of a human female!

My first answer probably wasn’t geeky enough. It is a common name for Adansonia gregorii, which we have in Australia.
That’s probably not the tree in the photo though. I’m going to go with Adansonia digitata.
Baobab tree, fruit are edible.
Peter wins.

Good guess, but the flowers are wrong for Baobab.
John Criswick down in the Caribbean wrote me to say he believes it’s “Kigelia pinnata”,” AKA “Kigelia Africana.”
Dumb guess- mango?
If that’s the case, that is one huge sausage tree!
Brugmansia or Datura so even the perfume can irrtate, definately not edible, except the trunk is huge
Sausage tree

Looks like trees I’ve seen on the Pete Kanaris GreenDreamsFL you tube. Also, the blog Musings of a Lunatic Farmer is awesome new thinking – especially on farming. I loved learning his techniques when Justin Rhoades taped a visit he made a few years ago to his place (Joel Salatin).
