The other night, Rachel and I threw some breadfruit right into the fire. We’d seen locals do this and asked a friend about it and he assured us it would work.
We rolled them around in the fire until all the green skin had burned black. After about a half hour, I pulled them out and let them cool a bit, then we cracked into them.
They were delicious. Sweet and smoky and rather like gummy roasted bread rolls.
That decides it. I’m going to have to plant a breadfruit tree.
Here’s a video I just posted of Rachel by the fire, roasting breadfruit and plantains:
Here’s how you roast breadfruit in Jamaica, which seems to be the same method:
We didn’t score the breadfruit first but it did well.
You can, of course, eat it ROAST OR FRY:
Have a great weekend.
