Starting peaches from seed is a particular joy of mine and I have been spreading the message over the years.
My friend Robert just brought me a pair of peach trees from North Carolina which he started from pits.
They are already almost asleep for the winter.
The mother of these trees was also a seedling peach, planted by Robert’s grandmother. He told me the tree makes beautiful fruit and he has started planting the pits. We’ll see how they do down here in our lower-chill climate.
Thank you, Robert – what a wonderful gift. I will plant them in February when everything is totally dormant.
If you aren’t growing peach trees from seed, you ought to try it. I’ve had great success.
