Happy Friday, folks!
Tomorrow we’ll be having another plant sale at the friendly little Atmore Flea Market, also known as “Poppy’s Antiques.”
Along with the plant sale, there will be a classic car show and RC drag racing. What a combo!
New plants will be in stock, along with some rare seeds.
We will have:
Cassava
Nitrogen-fixing Eleagnus pungens
Palmetto (powerful medicinal berries)
Mahonia fortunei (a lovely shade plant with edible berries)
Chaste tree (medicinal and great for pollinators)
An assortment of Lantana (one of our favorite garden flowers)
Butterfly bush
Honey locust
Catawba (great native tree which attracts the best caterpillars for fish bait)
Mulberry
Papaya
Okinawa spinach
African blue basil
Cat whiskers (pollinator plant and herb)
Giant yellow timber bamboo
…and more
We’ll also have some of our homegrown pumpkins:

Is the atmore market in Escambia county Alabama?? Making sure I have the right address before I drive an hour. Thanks!
Yes
Hi, David. We are big fans of yours, have most of your books and watched most of your videos. We live in Micanopy so are going to Scrubfest and then the McIntosh Festival. :-) The video I watched today was on composting, and you stated that we can feed acorns to horses and cows, but actually that is a no-no. We lost a beloved Jersey dairy cow to her affinity for acorns and almost lost 2 horses. Causes kidney failure from the tannins or something. When the acorns fall, we have to put up electric fencing to keep animals from under the trees. By the way, you would get a laugh out of seeing how horrible our gardening attempts are doing. My thumb is NOT green. Hope to see you soon in person,
Pat
It may be an issue of overconsumption. I am no cattle expert for sure. How sad to lose a cow! Our goats ate them endlessly and I know the Dexters eat some. Maybe we’ve been lucky.
I think we can green up your thumb – you just need the right plants. See you at Scrubfest!
