Merry Christmas to all my readers, viewers, supporters, lurkers and Good Gardeners around the world. May you know the peace that only comes from a knowledge of the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who entered this world in an unlikely way in an unlikely place in the midst of a dark time.
Fear not. God is in control. He has visited us before and He shall come again to judge the living and the dead.
“Nevertheless the gloom will not be upon her who is distressed,
As when at first He lightly esteemed
The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,
And afterward more heavily oppressed her,
By the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan,
In Galilee of the Gentiles.
The people who walked in darkness
Have seen a great light;
Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death,
Upon them a light has shined.
You have multiplied the nation
And increased its joy;
They rejoice before You
According to the joy of harvest,
As men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
For You have broken the yoke of his burden
And the staff of his shoulder,
The rod of his oppressor,
As in the day of Midian.
For every warrior’s sandal from the noisy battle,
And garments rolled in blood,
Will be used for burning and fuel of fire.
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”
-Isaiah 9:1-7 NKJV
This year we are separated from our extended family due to the pandemic but we are together in spirit. I’m recovering now, though I am still weak. Some wonderful friends came by with gifts for us, and other friends came with food and homegrown produce. We are blessed beyond what we deserve and I hope there is someone in your life right now who is doing the same for you – or maybe you are the one bringing blessing to others! No matter where you are, there is a plan for your life and there are blessings in focusing on the marvelous intervention of God’s love in history that we celebrate during this chilly end of December.
Eggnog alone is proof that God loves us.
Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you too.
But I’ll pass on the eggnog.
Funny ads on your page again today.
I have seen some weird ads. I just let them run and pocket the money… it pays the rent.
Merry Christmas, y’all!
A belated Merry Christmas.
I heard an atheist quip that if there was no God, how can there be cashews? A while back, you did a podcast about hornworms and wasps. I’ve read that Charles Darwin was horrified by the wasp larvae eating the hornworms alive & took it as a sign that a good deity did not exist. If only he was a gardener.
Here’s a link that might interest you about mining metal with plants: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/26/science/metal-plants-farm.html
Happy New Year.
That article is fascinating – thank you. And Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas again. Hey guys what do you have going on garden related? I built a new 15″ raised bed for a single perinnal veggie for next year. Any suggestions for zone 7b? I so miss interacting and chatting with other garden folk.
I am going to borrow a chainsaw and make a bunch of biochar to add to the spring gardens.
