Right now Rachel and I are down in South Florida for a wedding, which incidentally happens on the same day as our 17th wedding anniversary. It’s rather romantic to celebrate our marriage by attending a wedding, don’t you think?
Since I am here, and since many of my readers live in South Florida, I am going to give a gardening talk tomorrow morning for anyone that wants to attend. If you want to learn how to grow an amazing garden in Florida, come on by!
TIME:
January 2nd, 10AM Eastern
LOCATION:
The Riverland Preserve
2681 Riverland Road
Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33312
COST AND DETAILS:
Suggested donation per person $20. Kids are free. And if you’re broke, don’t worry about donating. Buy seeds for your garden instead.
The Riverland Preserve is a shady little park and is easy to find. It looks like a large, residential house and yard with lots of trees. I recommend bringing a chair if you want a place to sit. Also, definitely bring plants and seeds and cuttings to trade and share! I will bring some katuk cuttings and whatever else I can find in the food forest.
The venue is outdoors so if you’re worried about the virus it’s a low-risk event.
There is apparently a yoga group meeting there at 9AM, too, so we’ll try not to scare them too badly with our bundles of plants and COMPOST YOUR ENEMIES T-shirts. Just look for me – I’ll be there by 9:30 or so. Also, I was told we should not park on the grass – there should be space along the road and driveways instead.
We’ll probably run from 10 to noon or so. I’ll talk for an hour and then take questions and we can trade plants. Time is flexible – if we’re having fun, we’ll stay longer. Feel free to bring your kids or grandkids or homeschool group!
Hope to see you there.

It’s the weirdest thing but last night I had a dream that you and Rachel were getting married and I was a guest at the wedding. I woke up right as I was being given a piece of seaglass that one of your children had made into something.
You must have mentioned the anniversary coming up recently, otherwise why would that have been brewing in my subconscious? Spooky!
Was a great day, thanks for taking the time to make it happen. Our kids had a great time playing with your family AND everyone one who showed up and brought seedlings, cuttings, and seeds was so generous… Thank You to all.
