With a calabash gourd:
I’ve been growing amaranth off and on for years. It’s a decent grain but a great leaf crop. The variety in the video is bred for leaves, not grain, though you wouldn’t know it at this time of the year when the leaves are small and dried.

Just ran across your site. Love it. I saw the post about the chokes. I had a double 30′ row. The deer worked it over pretty good early on and I finally got them deterred. We had a great soaking rain from the last tropical storm and unfortunately my chokes blew over. They were just starting to flower too. I guess next year I need to provide some support for them. They really get tall. I’d say these were 12′ or so.
