If anyone is interested in getting my little booklet on growing tobacco for free, you can get it at Amazon right now for nothing!
Giving away free content, as I do on the blog every weekday, is a great way to make friends and gain new readers. It will be interesting to see how many people download the book during the promotion.
Speaking of downloads, don’t forget that Compost Everything: The Movie is now available for download.
It was a big hit at The Homegrown Food Summit this year and it’s gotten great reviews. If you don’t own it yet, go get it. You’ll enjoy it.

Very generous of you, David! Thanks! I downloaded my copy, and have posted a link to it on my Facebook page, in hopes that it will increase your readership.
Good idea, Rob. I did the same.
Re tobacco, I started a whole bunch indoors back in February in a nice flat, got good germination, put it outside, and the chipmunks dug it all up and planted nuts in the pot. The only plants that survived were those seeds I randomly scattered around other plants I had indoors for the winter. I replanted the flat, but it is now far behind those randoms.
However, I also got sprouts coming up here and there in the gardens where I grew it last year. So I just clean up the weeds around the sprouts and let them go. Volunteer tobacco!
Interesting to me, the sprouts did NOT come up in the nice, soft rich areas. They seem to like the garden ends and edges where the tractor wheels packed the clay hard. Will definitely try that next year on purpose and see what happens.
David, any plans to allow this to be a paper read? I don’t have an e-reader.
Eventually.
I plan a series called “Vice Gardening,” in which I cover tobacco, alcohol, sugar and caffeine.
