Yesterday I scored some rebar and we got some rain:
The Meadow Creature is able to break the ground better than a shovel or a hoe and now that we have some moisture in the soil, I’m going to till some chunks this evening and plant the yam starts you see at the beginning of the video. I tested it last night and was quite happy to see how well it did in an area I could barely break with a how.
I’ll film again, of course, and you’ll get to see the progress.
I hope to also plant a perennial cucumber this afternoon if I can rig up a decent trellis. I think rebar is the key to staking in this hard ground. I bought some 5/8″ steel and will use them to make my yam trellises, then use the smaller ones I found for tomatoes and beans and other plants that need individual stakes.
It rained a bit more last night. I think the rainy season has officially started.
