I have been informed that this site has successfully been migrated over to a bigger server – thank you, Rick!
Unfortunately, my own internet connection is still very slow at the moment so getting work done online has been difficult. Opening an email can take up to a minute… and writing a post takes much longer than I care to admit. It’s supposed to be fixed this week, so hopefully I’ll be back on my regular posting schedule soon.
Thanks for your patience. I’ve got some great ideas coming soon.
While the internet has been slow I’ve been spending the offline time working on my next book for Florida gardeners, tentatively titled: Florida Zone-Pushing: Growing Delicious Tropical Fruit Outside the Tropics. It’s a collection of ideas and methods I tested for getting tropical plants mostly edible) to grow outside their range. I expand upon many of the ideas I cover here, plus share stories of how I discovered various microclimates in my yard and around town and some of the surprising success stories I both created and observed. I also talk greenhouses and tweaks that will allow you to produce tropical fruit without breaking the bank.
If you want to grow pineapple, papaya, guavas and other tropical plants in Florida outside their normal range, this book is for you. It’s not a huge book, but it’s not as small as Create Your Own Florida Food Forest, either. I hope to publish it some time this month.
Anyhow, pray the internet speed can be increased quickly. I do a lot online and need that connectivity. It’s tempting to wander off into the cocoa grove and never get online again… but that way lies being broke.
Have a great day. Back soon.
