These were planted two months ago. This is what they looked like initially:
Two months! These things are growing machines. I’m not sure why they aren’t planted more in Florida… their potential as a carbohydrate staple is incredible.
I have five ponds of them growing right now and all of them are stuffed with plants.

What do they taste like? How do you keep Mosquitos from laying eggs in your still pond?
They taste sweet, crunchy and nutty. Much, much better than the ones you get in cheap Chinese food. I could eat them daily.
I'm not sure what Kathy does, but I let the water dry out at the top every little while to kill the mosquito larvae. They'll live in muck as well as in shallow water. In my bathtub water chestnut pond I've added some mosquito fish from a local pond. Mosquito free!
How many per averge size kiddie pool would you put in. I'm in Australia with a climate very similar to yours ( without the freezing winters) and I look forward to seeing if these will grow
I'd just add a couple of them. They grow rapidly. And hey… without the freezing winters? You're in the GREAT part of Australia! Pick a mango for me.
