This week we’re building a chicken coop.
With the price of eggs, we’ve decided to expand our chicken operation. So far it’s cost us about $500 to build the coop, which is roughly 8.5 eggs at today’s prices.
It’s going to house about 25 birds, so we’ll be in the MONEY soon.
Siding was too expensive, so we’re splitting bamboo and using that for the exterior walls.
I bought an antique froe which we’re using to split the bamboo poles in half. It’s way easier than a machete. I’ll have to make a video on it.
The bamboo is a timber type which is growing in a big patch out in the yard. It’s awesome to be able to put it to use, and it will easily save us $250 in materials.
And it looks cool.

That does look really, really cool. I’m daydreaming about things I can do for my chickens. I’m appreciating them more and more these days!
