My friend Bill Hall (of B & G Blueberries in Ft. McCoy!) and I will be selling vegetables and perennials for your fall garden on Saturday from 9AM – 1PM at the Marion County Agricultural Extension. If you’ve wanted to put in a fall garden but haven’t done it before, our local Master Gardeners will also help you figure out how to make this fall productive and delicious.

■ Solanaceous crops: Tomato, eggplant, pepper and white potato
■ Brassicas: Cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower and collards
■ Cucurbits: Cucumber, squash, pumpkin and melons
At every gardening event, we cover a topic related to building your soils, as it is the foundation to a successful garden. The outdoor sessions will cover:
■ Composting: Making rich soil
■ Growing herbs: Planting in flower beds or kitchen gardens
■ Growing tropical crops: Yuca (cassava), melanga, papaya, sorrel and pigeon peas
■ Common pests of vegetables and fruit trees: How to responsibly control pests on edibles in the garden
