We tested out Rachel’s new iPhone today, running a livestream as I planted a small apple orchard:
The audio needs some work, but it wasn’t bad. The camera is amazing. I just hope the 5G doesn’t kill us.
I’ll post more on the apple orchard project soon. We got 10 bare root trees in the ground today and have 6 more to plant, probably on Monday. All of them are different Southern varieties, and only a couple of them were ones I’d even HEARD of before making the order from Century Farms Orchard.
Like usual, we are jumping in with both feet.

Thank you for this, I am working up to planting apples as well. I need to grow or buy more rootstock and collect the fruit wood for grafting onto the rootstock I have already. .
My wife has been amazingly understanding about me needing to have one of the crisper drawers for baggies full of soil sprouting apple seeds and plum pits, and twigs.
Good wife!
I actually bought a second fridge “for my wife”, then proceeded to fill almost the entire thing with seeds.
An online resource for apple varieties is: pomiferous.com
It is nice to be able to review what the trees do if you know the variety.
Yes, absolutely. I’ll be marking all the types, and posting the list here.
Yes, you are correct. Lee Calhoun. I would like to buy a copy of his book but I can’t find it anywhere. Here is a link to it for online reading if you didn’t already find it. https://books.google.com/books?id=XCFYuLbMuZQC&pg=PA31&source=gbs_toc_r&cad=4#v=onepage&q&f=false
