I’m scattered today after yesterday’s amazing happening… still can’t believe it.

There are a few things I need to share today, though, so I’m going to make a list of random things. Here goes.

Random Thing #1: Visit the Market!

I went to the 326 Community Market today and bought good brown farm eggs and some really sweet grapefruit.

I might try to combine both into an omelet this morning.

If you haven’t gone to the market in a while, they’ve moved to a nice new location. There are vendors with produce, amazing homemade soap, plants, jewelry, clothing, crafts and homemade ice cream. The word on the street is that their attendance is way down since they were forced out of their old location, so please stop by on Thursday afternoons if you’re in Marion county and share some love. They’re great people and an asset to the community.

Random Thing #2: Audio Compost!

Yesterday I saw that the audiobook version of Compost Everything: The Good Guide to Extreme Composting just went live on Amazon.

I used to do voice acting back when I had a real job and I’m quite happy with the way this turned out.

When I decided to write a book on composting, I had no idea it would get this far. After our good sales in both kindle and paperback editions, my publisher pushed me to get this audio book out… and here it is. If you’d rather listen than read, I dedicate it to you, O auditory learner!

Random Thing #3: It’s Almost Here

I talked with Marjory this afternoon and she really likes the Compost Everything movie I created.

I don’t get into the really freaky stuff (like composting human waste and the bodies of your enemies) but I do cover a lot of other useful techniques, including making fish emulsion, composting logs and growing your own compost.

Plus, it’s funny.

And a confession: I totally have a crush on Marjory Wildcraft. No lie.

Random Thing #4: No Longer Bummed

I was honestly feeling a bit bummed out earlier this week. I spend a lot of hours writing books and posts, plus recording YouTube videos… and make very little money. Sure, the books sell well and the videos get a decent amount of views, but when it all boils down to the nitty gritty, I really only make a buck or two per book sale. I keep the prices low on purpose since I’m aiming to reach a wide audience, but at the same time the per-day royalties are low enough that I sometimes wonder if I should get a real job.

Like accounting.

Or waste management.

That melancholy mood was utterly shattered yesterday when one reader decided they believed in me enough to donate the complete amount I needed for a good camera.

I kept thinking about it all day and I’m thinking about it now. I know there are quite a few of you who would so something similar for me. I can go anywhere in the state right now and find friends. I even have friends internationally at this point. I may be a little tight on funds during the winter when gardening isn’t a high priority for most, but I’m very rich in relationships. And I really love you guys and your encouragement. I’m not going to quit this blog and become an accountant for a trash company… you guys are worth writing for.

Just don’t tell anyone I got mushy, okay?

Random Thing #5: A Gardening Paradise For Sale

My friend Louise is selling a very nice place down in Belleview, Florida at a great price. It’s only $141,000 and she calls it a “gardening paradise.”

There are ponds, a mature pear and some loquat trees, a chaste tree plus a lot of beautiful flowers and ornamentals. It’s on 3 acres with some pasture as well. The house is also a site-built home, not a mobile, and it’s in immaculate shape. There’s even a big screen room on the back, a commercial AC unit and a sweet barn.

I’m tempted myself. 3 acres could feed a block if you grow like I do…
