Welcome to the official site of gardening author and teacher David The Good.
If you’ve ever struggled to grow food, you are not alone. So have I. Don’t worry, though – that’s how you get better. I’ve been gardening for over thirty years and every year I learn something new. Along the way, I share what I’ve learned and what I’m learning with my readers.
I post every weekday here and I have a huge archive of previous posts covering everything from composting to invasive plants, simple garden beds to survival crops. Go ahead, do a search for “persimmon” or “Mexican tree spinach” or “cayenne” or whatever piques your interest and you’ll probably find it.
I originally started this site as “Florida Survival Gardening,” then went global a few years later. If you’re a Florida gardener, you’ll find a lot of good information on this site – but if you live elsewhere, I’ve tried to cover topics for you as well.
Over the years I have lived and gardened in South Florida, North Florida, Tennessee, Grenada (West Indies), and in Lower Alabama, where we currently live in USDA Zone 8a, just a few miles north of the Florida Panhandle. I am married to Rachel, who is the mother and homeschool teacher to our eleven children. We are Christians and members of the Roman Catholic Church and give glory to God for all His blessings, both in and out of the garden.
You’ll find my gardening books here.
I also have a popular YouTube channel here.
I’m glad you stopped by and I hope you’ll be back.
