We did some experiments this spring with planting corn in stations to see if a patch of just three or four stalks planted tightly would still pollinate.
Here are the results:
What an interesting thing to see how the upwind vs. the downwind ears did. Looks like we should have hand-pollinated, but now we know exactly what happens without intervention. A successful experiment!

I glad to see the experiment worked. I was going to try corn this year but decided against it. Roots,bean, squash and greens this summer. With this new found knowledge, I will plant in traditional rows here in the south. Also let know about your kick starter, I look forward to your new book. Thank you David.
